In the town of books...
Most would agree that Hay Castle is stunningly beautiful, prominently positioned at the town’s centre. It’s now held by a charitable trust for the benefit of the town and a wider community.
In its first six months the Castle hosted over a hundred artistic and educational events. Some 127,000 people visited in the first year (to May 2023) to experience the art, music and assortment of activities that resonate through the Castle walls.
The Castle’s become a convivial meeting place, an intimate concert venue, a learning centre and a genuinely important cultural centre in the Marches. The art gallery draws from National collections and there are exhibitions too; a museum, a dungeon, a viewing platform, a café and a Richard Booth reading room!
